David Deutsch says society would be better without compulsory education
Modern Wisdom
Father Of Quantum Computing: How To Think Like A Genius - David Deutsch
What was said
"But even 30 years ago it would have been better in my opinion not to have compulsory subjects and not to have compulsory education of any kind."
David Deutsch says that, even decades ago, it would have been better “not to have compulsory subjects” and “not to have compulsory education of any kind”. The comment appears in a wider discussion about how people learn and a critique of education approaches that treat learning as the transfer of information rather than the growth of understanding.
