"And the inscription talks about uh somebody asking for or thanking somebody for blessings uh by Adonai of Shamron or Jehovah of Samaria, the Lord of Samaria and his Asher. And so, um, I think the majority of scholars agree this is probably intended to reflect the interpretation of these two deities as the God of Israel and God's wife, Asher."

Biblical scholar Dan McClellan says a Kuntillet Ajrud jar fragment (c. 800 BCE) includes an inscription invoking “Adonai of Samaria … and his Asher[ah]”. He says many scholars interpret it as pairing the God of Israel with a consort figure, alongside male-and-female deity imagery on the vessel.
