What was said
"40 to 60% of people carry a gene variant that slows that down by up to 70%. So basically, we're finding that it just doesn't convert in people. And that un metabolized folic acid that doesn't convert blocks cellular folate uptake and it completely masks these other B12 deficiencies."
Thomas DeLauer alleges that some people with MTHFR gene variants convert synthetic folic acid poorly, leaving unmetabolised folic acid that can interfere with folate uptake and mask B12 deficiency. He says liver is a better option because its folate is already in an active form and comes with B12 in food.
