"I called her collect, man, and um and she picked up. And we had a very brief, you know, very brief conversation. I said, "Look, I'm in the lobby of the Trade Center. I'm helping people get out. Uh I will see you soon. I love you.""
An unnamed Secret Service agent guest recalls using payphones in the World Trade Center 1 lobby to place a collect call to his wife while helping people evacuate. He says he left immediately after the call, but she did not know that and believed he had died when she saw Tower 2 collapse about 13 minutes later.
