Paige Alexandra West describes differences between iboga root bark and extract
Third Wave Podcast
Why Iboga Ceremony Isn’t Comfortable | Paije Alexandra West
"root bark of course is the uh shavings of the second layer of the root on the ibogga shrub and it is not changed in any way. it is simply, you know, shaved off and um possibly ground down, right? Um sort of like a sawdust type um mixture, I suppose. Um and then TA is the total alkyoid extract."
Paige Alexandra West says iboga root bark is unmodified shavings from the plant’s root, sometimes ground down before ingestion. She says “total alkaloid” extract is made by extracting compounds from the root bark to reduce the amount of plant matter consumed while retaining multiple alkaloids. West adds that her team carries out total alkaloid extractions in-house, done by a team member she identifies only as Paul.
