The myth of the self-made individual | Daniel Coyle: Full Interview
"Retention in group B went up 300%. Not because of some magic chemistry, not because they had something happen from the inside out, but because they had received a crystalclear set of belonging cues."
Daniel Coyle describes what he presents as a one-hour onboarding experiment at Wipro in which new hires were split into two groups. He says one group received a company-focused session and branded clothing, while the other group’s session focused on the trainee’s own experiences and ended with a sweatshirt bearing the trainee’s name. Coyle says that after six months “retention in group B went up 300%”.
