Everett alleges a Brazilian follower of Chomsky contacted Brazil's Indigenous affairs agency to accuse him of racism, in a bid to undermine his authorisation to visit the Pirahã. He argues the charge was an attempt to weaponise institutional processes during a scholarly dispute.
