"I think the way they're building the data centers is reckless and damaging to communities. The fact that you have communities like in Vineland, New Jersey where the residents are like, I don't want this, but the planning boards vote for it because they're all, I assume, having chummy lunches with the people doing it. I think the use of gas turbines is fucking disgraceful."
Zitron argues that the rapid expansion of AI-focused data centres is being pushed through despite local opposition, and he singles out ‘behind-the-meter’ gas turbines as a harmful power solution. He suggests planning processes are being unduly influenced, though he offers this as an assumption rather than documented proof.
