The UK Tells Asylum Seekers Not To R*pe
"Now, that isn't me saying it. That's a booklet from the UK's Home Office published last week for people claiming asylum in the UK. That's right. The British government has essentially published a guide telling asylum seekers not to rape."
Bari Weiss says the UK Home Office published a nine-page booklet for people claiming asylum which sets out UK rules on gender equality, sex and consent, domestic abuse, and public conduct. She adds that the guidance is being distributed in asylum accommodation with accompanying posters, and that the Home Office warns breaches could lead to arrest and affect accommodation and asylum claims. Weiss also relays political reaction, including criticism from Reform UK and a Home Office statement that non-compliance can lead to refusal and removal, while a Labour spokesperson declined to comment.
