Venture capitalist Gavin Baker says restricting access to advanced AI, as he characterises Anthropic and the effective altruism movement as favouring, is less safe than broad distribution. He argues there is no historical example where centralising a powerful technology led to better outcomes, and says he does not want Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei deciding what is in his interests.
