Linda Kinsler says US should back international justice with funding
The Ezra Klein Show
The Warring Visions of American Power | The Ezra Klein Show
"I think you could imagine, and, you know, Mamdani explicitly called for this, for the United States to join the ICC. Frankly, it's hard to imagine any administration doing that. But I think what you could do is meaningfully lend American support to these institutions, you know, whether it's, for example, by giving a lot of money to the Trust Fund for Victims, for example."
Linda Kinsler argues that formal US accession to the International Criminal Court is unlikely under a future Democratic president. She suggests tangible support instead, including major funding for the ICC’s Trust Fund for Victims and reparative measures such as compensation mechanisms to make international law “material”.
