Britain Isn't Ready For A Real War - Col. Hamish de Bretton-Gordon OBE
"I sat next to a lady the other night whose daughter was a consultant surgeon in the NHS. She wanted, she's always wanted to join the army, absolutely desperate. But because she took some mental health drug, and I haven't a clue what it was, when she was 10 years old, she has been precluded from joining the military, which is completely bonkers."
Hamish de Bretton-Gordon says UK military recruitment screening is overly rigid and driven by computer-led bureaucracy. He recalls being told an NHS consultant surgeon was barred from joining the Army because of mental health medication taken in childhood.
