"Yeah, no, so to be honest, like 2 weeks before the Usyk fight, there was the, the MVP card, right? But then they approached me like weeks before MVP to MMA vs. Francis. And then I was also like right on the edge of like closing the deal with Usyk."
Verhoeven says he was approached about an MMA bout against Francis Ngannou shortly before finalising the Usyk fight. He describes weighing two options at once and choosing Usyk on “legacy” grounds, saying the Ngannou fight could still be available later.
