Actor Rose McGowan recalls asking a photographer why press-line photographers repeatedly shout “over the shoulder”, saying she was told they can earn “three times as much money” if they capture a celebrity’s face and backside in the same image. In the same exchange, McGowan frames her own notorious awards-show outfit as a defiant response to being objectified, arguing that copycat versions tend to be posed “to be sexy” rather than confrontational.
