"And then Biden, you know, surprised a lot of people by governing in a a strikingly progressive way. You know, he um he empowered a lot of people from the Elizabeth Warren network in his sort of economic and regulatory policies. He walked away from the Obama administration's legacy on education reform on things like charter schools and performance pay for teachers."
Journalist Matthew Yglesias told Coleman Hughes that the Democratic Party’s mainstream shifted left during Joe Biden’s presidency, despite Biden having run as the more moderate option in the 2020 primary. Yglesias cited staffing and policy choices he says aligned with Elizabeth Warren’s orbit and a retreat from Obama-era education reforms such as charter schools and teacher performance pay.
