2028 Presidential Frontrunner: The American Dream Is DEAD We’re Running Out Of Time | Pete Buttigieg
"I was there for that. I can tell you how the mistake happened. There was a difficult and complex set of negotiations happening between the big three automakers to try to get to a new framework moving forward on tailpipe standards."
Buttigieg says he was present for the 2021 White House electric-vehicle event criticised by Elon Musk, and offers an explanation for Tesla’s absence. He claims the event was designed around an agreement with major carmakers on tailpipe standards, and that “people weren't really thinking about inviting Tesla” because it only makes EVs.
