Otvos says analyses using stored samples from the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) found the NMR-derived LPIR score predicted diabetes risk better than fasting insulin, and showed lifestyle intervention reduced LPIR more than metformin. He adds later that the work has not been published, attributing delays in part to the primary author’s recent death.
