402 ‒ NMR blood analysis: how mortality risk and more can be assessed from a single blood sample
"LabCorp came along and said, We'd like to buy you because we can make more money if we don't have to pay whatever number of dollars to Lipo Science every time we do this test. So it was a purely financial decision."
Otvos says Liposcience’s goal was to become an IVD supplier, placing “Vanta” NMR analysers in clinical laboratories so NMR assays could be run widely. He claims LabCorp’s 2014 acquisition shifted the strategy to keeping NMR capability proprietary, ending broader deployment and, he says, curtailing awareness-building for new assays.
