"Recently, recently I did a video where, or because someone reached out to me and they said, Dr. Bayo, can you respond to this Reddit thread? Because there's a group of doctors who are complaining about how people are saying they have POTS or Ehlers-Danlos because they just want to be trendy. And it was disheartening for that person to see it who has POTS because now they're like, oh my God, if I go to the doctor, could this doctor be the person on the Reddit group?"
Dr Bayo Curry alleges some doctors on Reddit mocked people who say they have POTS or Ehlers-Danlos, suggesting they are doing it to be “trendy”. She says a person with POTS found the thread disheartening and worried their own doctor might share those views. Curry argues this kind of scepticism feeds medical gaslighting and growing mistrust in healthcare.
