"It was so bad that the casting director called my team and they were like, "We never do this. We've seen thousands of guys. We're not going to waste our time." However, when he walked in, I I turned to my assistant. I said, "If he has the craft, this part is his." And he did not have the craft."
Ritchson says a Marvel casting director took the unusual step of contacting his representatives after his Thor audition to say he looked right for the role but lacked the necessary acting skill. He says the feedback triggered a pivot into formal training and a more disciplined approach to auditions and performance.
