"I called Miss Christine. Called her the first time. She didn't answer. I called her a second time. And I got on the phone with her and she uh I asked her if she had heard from Nolan and she said no. And I said, "All right, well, don't freak out. I'm going to call the Coast Guard." And I This was at about 11:00."
In the same interview, Hudson says he became concerned after none of the group could account for Nolan Wells later that evening and he could not confirm Wells had returned with another boat. Hudson says he obtained Wells’s mother’s phone number, rang her to confirm she had not heard from her son, and then contacted the Coast Guard at about 11pm.
