Sean Curran, identified in the report as the director of the US Secret Service, says the agency is operating in a “heightened” threat environment ahead of the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington. The report says the venue change from the Washington Hilton comes after an April incident in which a gunman allegedly tried to enter the ballroom to assassinate President Donald Trump, prompting revised security planning and screening measures.
