The Ariel Helwani Show
Boots Ennis RESPONDS to Terence Crawford's Criticism, Defends Xander Zayas, Vergil Ortiz Plans
"We went all the way down there by ourselves. No wing and no invite, no nothing, you know, we ain't pay for no ticket. Now we came down there by ourselves to let them know that we want this fight. Came to them face to face. They wanted— they didn't want to let us get in the ring. They didn't want us to sit where we were sitting at. He was giving us a hard time. And that right there, when I got down there and I figured it out, like, that goes to show that these guys don't want to fight for real."
Unified super welterweight champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis reveals he traveled uninvited to confront Virgil Ortiz Jr. face-to-face to make the fight happen, but claims Ortiz's team made it difficult and tried to keep them from ringside. Ennis accuses Ortiz of not genuinely wanting the fight despite public call-outs, pointing to Ortiz naming Errol Spence as his dream fight immediately after their face-off. The revelation exposes tension in boxing's 154-pound division and suggests the sport's biggest potential matchup may be in jeopardy.
