How to Master Any Conversation, Communicate With Confidence, and Deal With Difficult People
"Most people, when they think they've forgotten a name, they never imprinted it on their mind. And the reason is when the person told you their name, you didn't listen. I have a set of 3 directions that I have stolen from shampoo bottles, but I call it the lather, rinse, repeat. Listen, repeat, reply."
Oz Pearlman, who has spent 30 years studying human psychology as a professional mentalist, shares his foolproof method for remembering names: listen, repeat, reply. He explains that most people never forget names because they never actually heard them in the first place, being too distracted by their own thoughts. The technique involves clearing your mind to truly hear the name, repeating it twice immediately, then replying with either a compliment, asking how to spell it, or connecting it to someone you know.
