Baseten CEO Tuhin Srivastava on the AI Inference Crunch, Custom Models, and Building the Inference Cloud
"It is hard for me to see, and I could be wrong, but if I network bound these models, that they're not magically going to be able to cross those network boundaries and to data center. I've never seen any real evidence except from some very early models that I think people picked up on very quickly that there is some agenda or bias built into these."
Base10's CEO addressed concerns about Chinese-origin AI models like DeepSeek, arguing that with proper network isolation, security risks are minimal. He emphasized that these models are technically excellent and that Chinese government subsidies effectively benefit US enterprises, while stressing the importance of America developing competitive open-source alternatives.
