"The absolute bad outcome is that our young generation, their agency and human level motivation of learning and living is taken away by tools. So doom scrolling, passive watching of shorts, all this are not helping agency, human agency."
Asked about AI’s impact on young people, Li says the most damaging outcome would be reduced agency and motivation, linking the risk to passive consumption patterns such as “doom scrolling” and short-form video. She also cautions against banning tools outright, arguing that motivated students could use AI to learn more deeply with proper guidance.
