MASSIVE WIN For 2A, ATF To STOP ENFORCEMENT of NFA ▶

What happened in this episode?

Timcast IRL focuses on claimed developments in US firearms regulation and a comparison with Canada’s gun laws. One guest argues that recent court action and subsequent ATF guidance mean the agency will no longer enforce NFA pre-approval, registration and tax-stamp requirements for suppressors, describing it as the first major rollback of the NFA in decades. The same speaker contends the legal rationale for the NFA’s registration scheme depended on Congress’s taxing power, and says removing the tax undermines that basis; he also warns a future Congress could reinstate a nominal fee.

The panel then debates Donald Trump’s record on gun rights. A speaker calls Trump “the most pro-2A president” and alleges—citing what he says he heard from advocacy and industry contacts—that Trump personally instructed the attorney general not to appeal the underlying decision. The conversation also references bump stocks and red-flag comments as criticisms, while framing the administration’s current posture as favourable to gun owners.

A Canadian participant describes the Canadian firearms licensing and classification system and recounts how a 2020 Order in Council reclassified certain firearms as prohibited. He says owners were covered by an amnesty pending a buyback, and alleges the buyback has not purchased any firearms while projected costs have escalated substantially. The episode ends moving towards superchats and a self-promotion segment (omitted).

Canadian guest says 2020 order reclassified his AR-15 as prohibited overnight

Unidentified Canadian guest · at 9:53 · Attributed speaker claim
And overnight through signing that what we call an OIC, an order and council, they banned it completely overnight. They reclassified it, making it prohibited. So, I became a criminal overnight, legally speaking, a criminal.

An unidentified Canadian guest says a 2020 Order in Council reclassified firearms including his AR-15 from “restricted” to “prohibited”, which he says made him a criminal “legally speaking”, though he says an amnesty was put in place pending a buyback. He claims the buyback has not yet purchased any firearms and alleges projected costs rose from about C$200 million to more than C$1 billion, while additional models were later added to the ban list.
