Episode summary
In this short segment from Jesse Michels’ American Alchemy, guest Dylan Borland recounts an alleged UFO sighting he says occurred while he was at Langley Air Force Base. Borland places the incident at about 1am as he drove across the base, passing a NASA hangar and runway, before stopping near his barracks and walking towards a gym area while on the phone and smoking a cigarette.
He says a light appeared near the NASA hangar and then moved across the base in his direction. As it approached, Borland claims a triangular structure became visible around the light; he says he cannot explain whether this was “active camouflage” or some other phenomenon, but insists he saw a white light become a triangle.
Borland describes the object as a roughly 100–150 foot equilateral triangle with lights on each corner, with a black metallic-flake appearance and an outer surface that “pulsated” and moved “like a lava lamp”, plus a goldish transparent flow around it. He says the object hovered roughly 100 feet above and in front of him for two to three minutes.
According to Borland, the centre light then flashed and the object rapidly accelerated upwards to what he characterises as commercial jet altitude, appearing like a satellite before travelling out over the Atlantic Ocean. He offers a rough speed estimate based on an assumed climb to 30,000 feet in two to three seconds. No corroborating evidence is provided in the clip, and the account is presented as Borland’s personal recollection.
